Emboss Resist & More Apertures

Today I continue the “Christmas in July” theme with a couple more Christmas cards.  I’ll be demonstrating two more types of aperture cards, and a stamping technique called “Emboss Resist”.   

You, of course, can use anything in your stash to create this type of cards, but this is what I used:

INK: Secret Sea & VersaMark 

ADHESIVES: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Tear & Tape, and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals 

TOOLS:  Small Blending Brush, Paper Trimmer, Detail Scissors, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, and Cut and Emboss Machine.

PAPER/CARDSTOCK: Basic White cardstock, Secret Sea cardstock, Silver Foil Sheets (can be substituted for Glimmer paper I used), and Peaceful Garden DSP set of 12 x 12 papers (currently on a last chance sale).

STAMPS & DIES: 2 older die sets - Textured Notes (a set of rectangle dies) & Wanted to Say (a set of sentiment dies), an older stamp & die bundle called Snowflake Kisses (the new Dreamy Snowflakes Hybrid Embossing Folder that is coming out in September will come with great snowflake dies that could be used in its place), and a discontinued stamp set called Peaceful Days (for doves).

I also used the following from my stash: black Sharpie marker, a bit of silver trim, and some clear sequins

Reversible, Reverse Image, and Apertures (July class #1 for 2026)

Today, in celebration of “Christmas in July”, I’m making a couple of Christmas cards.  I find I can NEVER start Christmas cards too early – I’ve too many people to send cards to!

In addition to ink and adhesives, this time I’m using papers from the Peaceful Garden set of 12 x 12 papers - which are currently on a last chance sale. I'm also using a couple of stamp sets (Stay Warm, and Notes of Spring) along with stamps from an older Paper Pumpkin kit called Warm Wishes.  All 3 are discontinued sets, but you can use whatever you have in your stash - or buy something new that you like from Stampin' Up!  I also used dies from a couple of cutting die sets: Spotlight on Nature, and Stylish Shapes.  Finally, I use a Silicone Craft Sheet for reversing direction of my stamps. 

The stamps I'm using for the first card are "Reversible Stamps" - which means you stamp the detail with one side of the stamp, and fill in with the back, or reverse, of the stamp.  The second card makes use of a Reverse Stamping technique - so handy to be able to reverse the facing direction of your stamps!  It also features a circular aperture.

Turtle-y Sweet

Today I have FOUR double-page layouts, made really quickly because I used a scrapbooking workshop kit from Stampin' Up!  (as always all of their images are copyright Stampin' Up!) - one called Turtle-y Sweet Scrapbooking Workshop Kit.  This time, I'm showing how you can take a kit that is all about cartoon turtles and use it for more "grown up" subjects.  Check out my video:
