I'd love to be YOUR demonstrator as you buy your Stampin' Up! products.
Full disclosure: I get a small commission on purchases made
using Stampin' Up! links from this website, but this in no way affects your price.
It just serves to help support this blog. Thank you in advance for that support!

Makes for Some WCMD Challenges (& Upcoming Club Samples)

Today I have several makes for WCMD challenges on this message board I frequent.  They are made from Stampin' Up! supplies, but some are made from old stash I need to use up.  I'll list supplies used for each make - and links for SU tools/supplies that are still available.  First, here are a couple of things that were used on almost every make:

Challenge #1:

This was a 3 part color challenge.  The colors challenge listed 4 colors: purple, orange, green, and black.  I decided to use this challenge to create some of my samples for our upcoming Stampin' Up! club night.

For this first card, we were to use at least 3 of the 4 colors, and the focal had to have leaves (yes, needles are a type of leaf!).  I used a discontinued decorative mask set called Frosted Forest and the matching dies to create this card.  Ink colors used were: Shaded Spruce, Pretty Peacock, Highland Heather, and black.  The little dog and the sentiment were stamps from a discontinued Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin kit called Warm Wishes.  The paper was from their Lovely Garden DSP (designer series paper).  Basic Black cardstock makes a great base for this card.

This was the 2nd card of the challenge.  For it, we had to use at least 3 of the colors and make a fun fold card.  As you can see, I made a center step card.  I again used papers from the Lovely Garden DSP. The focal was created using the discontinued bundle called Enduring Beauty.  It has decorative masks, stamps, and cutting dies.  I also used one of the small stamps to add little flowers to the side panels.  I used Highland Heather ink for those and for one of the layers of the petals.  I used Fresh Freesia ink for the background of the petals.  Light and dark applications of Garden Green created the leaves.  I DID make a mistake because I wasn't sure how this set worked.  I used black ink for the last mask that did the flower centers.  I wish I had used a darker purple ink instead (Gorgeous Grape) because the stamp that I stamped over top would have added black centers!  Live & learn.  I did add the flowers with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  The sentiment again came from the discontinued kit called Sentimental Rose.

Even though this particular bundle has been discontinued, you could use a similar one called Layers of Beauty - which is what I used for the third card in this set.

This time I made an easel card.  Inks I used, in addition to black, were: Peach Pie, Pumpkin PieHighland Heather, Daffodil Delight, and Garden Green.  (Yes, the roses are peach/orange - not yellow as the look in the picture!)  I punched out some sparkly dots from the discontinued 2024-2026 In Colors Glimmer Specialty Paper and added them.  The tag sentiment was stamped with a stamp from the discontinued kit called Sentimental Rose, and die cut using a die from the same Layers of Beauty set I used for the larger focal. I added a bow using Garden Green twine (discontinued).  This is another card that looks good on a Basic Black card base, and another card that uses Lovely Garden DSP.  Oh, yes, for the inside, I created a sentiment using a stamp from The Right Words stamp set.  After matting it on the green, I added it with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to hold the easel for display.

I was able to use materials/tools such that all three of these makes work for samples for my upcoming club meeting.  I just needed one more, so made the following

Challenge #2:

This was a sketch challenge.  I used paper from the discontinued Serene Love DSP, along with Night of Navy cardstock.  My flowers were made two different ways. 1) I used the same Layers of Beauty set of masks to create a single rose and fussy cut it.  To this, I added some die cut leaves.  2) I colored pieces of the paper - roses & leaves - with Stampin' Blends (Lost Lagoon, Night of Navy, and discontinued Boho Blue), fussy cut them and added them.  Using the discontinued Wanted to Say dies, I cut a sentiment from both the navy and white cardstocks.  After gluing the background in place, I glued my roses and leaves onto a square of white cardstock - then added the whole piece with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I also used these to add the sentiment, after gluing the layers together.

There!  My club card samples are done!

10/5/25 Addendum - Since this card was made with scraps from my challenge #3 card above, I decided to add it to this post.

This scrap card was actually a lot of fun.  It is based on a YouTube Short - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/04UVAyp_924

I needed to clean up my workspace and saw these scraps from the challenge #3 card and decided they'd be great for this technique.  Because of the size of some of my scraps, my pieces turned out to be pretty small, so it took FOREVER to put them in place - but I was quite happy with the result.  I used a sparkly silver embossing powder from my stash to fill in the lines between scrap pieces.

To make the card, I matted the finished piece on Night of Navy cardstock (with a piece die cut from the middle that I used to mat my focal.  Because of the sparkly silver, I thought "HOLIDAY"! so used 1/8" silver trim (unfortunately discontinued - love it!) to create a border near the top and to make the bow.  I die cut several pieces of greenery using a die from Christmas Greenery die set - two from white and one from a silver glimmer paper.  I stamped my greeting with Night of Navy ink using a stamp from Greetings of the Season set (discontinued), and die cut it using a die from Mixed Labels die set (currently on last chance sale).  I die cut a second one from the silver glimmer paper and cut it apart so the pieces would extend behind as you see in the picture. After gluing the pine sprigs in place, I added the sentiment piece with foam tape and the bow with a mini glue dot.

10/7/25 - Addendum 2! - Since this card is also for club, I'm adding it here so they're all in one place. I'm actually substituting it for the Center Step card above since we haven't really taught about making those (that's on tap for next class.)  Anyway, here's what I think is REALLY the last card for this post!

This time, the DSP came from the discontinued Regal Winter paper pack.  This focal was again made using the discontinued bundle called Enduring Beauty.  It has decorative masks, stamps, and cutting dies. This time you can see something of what it looks like when you let the stamp be the only thing adding black to the center.  A much better look.  The coloring of the leaves and flowers, however, are much looser because I used Stampin' Spritzers to add the color.  This gives a much "looser" look - especially since rubbing alcohol was the medium I used instead of water. I did this because alcohol dries MUCH faster.

The Stampin' Spritzers come empty and there are two in each package. For this flower I used: Real Red and Shaded Spruce ink refill in the spritzer - along with a bunch of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol).  I probably filled each spritzer 3/4 full with the rubbing alcohol and added 5 drops of the re-inker.  Of course, the more ink you add, the darker the color.  Also, the closer you are when you spray, the darker the color - so I started quite a distance from the flower and moved in closer with each decorative mask.  The sentiment was from the discontinued Mixed Labels stamp set - cut out using a die from the Layers of Beauty die set.  I finished with a bow of white twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials pack.

10/23 Addendum 3 -

I just realized I never this last WCMD Challenge card posted - probably because I had hoped to get more completed than I did.  Anyway, here they are.

For this card I was to use hydrangeas and pretzels as inspiration.  I used layering decorative masks, stamps, and dies (Thankful Garden bundle from Stampin' Up!) for my focal.  After adding it to a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, I die cut a second from scrap paper to use as a mask.  After placing the mask in place, I used a brown spray ink that I had in my stash to spray around the flower.  Then, I simply matted it on brown cardstock cut using the Textured Notes cutting dies, and added it to a Basic Beige card base.
